"PTU was born from a journey that began many years ago, working within healthcare settings and gaining firsthand experience in hospitals, care facilities, and private support work. During that time, I saw both the challenges and the joys that come with providing care. I worked with many wonderful individuals, but I also saw moments where care fell short—where systems were stretched, and support workers were under-prepared, leaving the people they were meant to help feeling overlooked.

I knew there had to be a better way.

After moving into agency work, I found that while the intentions of many services were good, the approach often lacked the personal touch needed to make people feel truly supported and valued. I began to see that being present in someone’s home isn’t just about ticking off tasks—it’s about building trust, listening, and understanding their unique needs, all while respecting the space they call their own.

This is what sparked the idea for PTU.

When I founded PTU, I made it my mission to ensure that every person providing support on our behalf would be more than just a worker—they would be a skilled, compassionate, and empowered professional. It’s not enough for someone to know what to do; they need to know why it matters and how to do it with care. Every support worker at PTU receives the training and guidance they need to make thoughtful, person-centered decisions, so they can focus on delivering the highest standard of care.
